Project Description: I own a 1934 tudor style home in Oakland (94605). Original stucco has been removed in an area that had high exposure to moisture. The single layer of 15-lb felt (original) has long deteriorated and moisture seeped through the stucco and affected the sheathing, studs and started to move along further (joists). About 12-18 linear feet affected. I have lots of pictures if needed. The area has been stripped already to sound wood. Stucco has been removed from roof to foundation. The damaged area is concentrated in one area. The framing is exposed from the outside (interior plaster has not been touched). I am looking for a general contractor to repair the structural damage only (load bearing framing). Original framing is all redwood. I would prefer to replace with like kind, but would consider pressure treated. Re-sheathing and stucco work is within my ability and shouldn't be in the estimate. I believe this to be a quick job to the right contractor. I am interested in estimates.

Question re basement floor renovation
Dear Handy American, I have a small home that is a little over 700 square feet that is in Lima, OH. The basement ceiling is only approximately 6 and a half tall. I would like to have an 8 foot ceiling and I saw on HGTV Sarah Richardson who dug out the basement to make the ceiling higher. Brilliant! The use of the space of the basement in such a small home is really important and so I am considering this renovation. Is this an expensive job and if so, approximately how much would it cost in Ohio? Thank you.
