| Project Title: | Home Repairs |
| Type: | Residential |
| Location: | Brooklyn, New York |
| Main concern: | Price |
| Budget: | $20,000 - $50,000 |
| Project Description: Planning on buying a home in Brooklyn, House is approx. built in the 1920's, 16x36, 1 family, semi detached. After a walk thru and a home inspection a few major problems were noted. 1) On the 2nd floor, the corridor floor sag's significantly towards the entrance to the bathroom. It is very noticeable. The doors on the 2nd floor actually close themselves. Need some advice on what the problem can be. 2) Electric panel needs an upgrade. Was told that the type of panel is undersized and is known for not tripping properly. 3) Basement, unfinished concrete floor. After a rainstorm, under the stairs there was evidence of water. The floor was wet and the wood base of the stairs and other wood in contact with the floor is completed rotted and deteriorated. Did not see any leaks or evidence of any leaks from above. There is an nearby underground waste line. Could a leak from the waste line saturate the soil and foundation enough for water to penetrate thru? Need some advice on what the problem can be. 4) Garage roof needs to be completely demo'd and replaced. I'm looking for an estimate on how much these items would cost. Thank you for your time. |
| Project Title: | Brick Garden Project |
| Type: | Residential |
| Location: | Brooklyn, New York |
| Main concern: | Quality |
| Budget: | Uncertain |
| Project Description: I need to have 2 'containers' built in my concrete backyard. I am planning to fill them with dirt so that I can have a garden. They will be parallel to and connected to an existing brick wall. The dimensions are roughly 2 feet high, 5.5 feet long and 2 feet wide. There will be a 3.5 foot wide space in between them paved with brick. I would like for this to have a curved front. A contractor started the job and then walked away. So there is an incomplete section that is about 1/4 done. Thank you! |
