Construction and renovation contractors must register with the Secretary of State to do business in Vermont. They do not need a separate contractor license for their trade.
With the exception of electrical work on residential duplexes or a other special situations will need a license to do electrical work in Vermont.
The Board issues master, journeyman, and Type-S journeyman licenses.

The State Plumbers Licensing Board issues three (3) licenses:
Specialist Plumber License
Consumers are advised to check for additional local municipal contractor license requirements as contractor laws can differ from county to county. It is also advised to double check with the state’s requirements before hiring a contractor.
