To bid and work on construction projects in Arkansas that cost $20,000 or more requires a contractor license unless the person is doing the work to his or her own property. All applicants are through the Arkansas Licensing Board.

Construction Contractor License

Arkansas requires licenses for both commercial and residential contractors. To qualify for a commercial contractor license classification in any trade the applicant needs five years of experience in it. The process of asbestos removal in Arkansas requires a contractor license by the Arkansas Department of Pollution Control and Ecology. To work with asbestos materials a person needs to be certified by the Department. Certification includes 1 year of experience followed by a written exam.
